Trigger happy at our home race in IAME Series Benelux

Ostricourt did not get us the result that we wanted to achieve. We had to start chrono from the 22nd place after the lottery – not the biggest issue – yet when Bruce Chirino and myself were going for a fast lap we crashed with a driver who managed to spin for 2nd time already in the chrono. Front fairing was pushed in, any chance for a good lap gone and a penalty on top. Result: P12 to start the heats.

In both heats Lukas showed his skills and managed to get up to P5 in heat 1 and even P4 in heat 2, where he showed some great maneuvers overtaking other drivers. Above all this is his home race where he also took the win on the 23rd of March.

Podium place within reach you would think… But when lined up on the starting grid in P4 Lukas couldn’t get his kart started. Trigger happy on the pedal – too nervous. Moments later when he got pushed back to the technical zone he got it started but it was too late. He had to start last and one after the lights were green with only one mission: damage control. He managed to drive to P11 showing resilience but this is a tough one to take… He got so close… perfect drive, no technical issues, just too nervous.

Results summary

Qualifying practice: P12
Heat 1: P5
Heat 2: P4
Finals: P11

We move on, reviewing this one as a learning opportunity – he showed great driving skills, had the right pace, but need to step up in starts under pressure. We’ll get there. We would like to thanks all supporters, at Ostricourt or at home, our racing team and our sponsors who got us here in the first place by supporting our journey: FiftyFive, Joris Buyse, Ripl, Coventa.

There is so much more to come. Many thanks to all who read the press, started to follow us and cheer us on! Thank you.
